Guest Reviews
The following are some of the comments people staying at the Hotel
have left.
We really enjoyed our time in Florence and in particular the Hotel
Machiavelli. It is a typical Italian 3 star hotel, no thrills just
simple and efficient service in a lovely old building which was
so old there were frescoes in the breakfast room! We were looking
for a budget hotel so the Hotel Mahiavelli Palace was just the ticket,
especially at only 180 euro a night in peak, peak season i.e. Mid
May. Unfortunately, during our time there my wife got a little bit
sick (from a fish meal in a nearby restaurant, my advice is when
in Florence do as the Florentines do and eat red meat i.e. the Bistecca
Florentina and drink Chianti) Anyway, the concierge was great and
called a Doctor who gave us a prescription which worked a treat…
well at least it stopped the runs for a while but perhaps I am going
into too much detail. So we meandered away round the cobbled streets
of old Firenze taking in the local street market where local vendors
sell various bits and bobs with a Florentine theme. Finally, the
concierge were very helpful organizing a cab for the airport when
we left. 9 out of 10 for location, 9 out of 10 for service and 7
out of 10 for breakfast… could be improved slightly as they
kept running out of things. We will be back to Florence and will
check if the Machiavelli Palace has rooms available before booking
any other hotel in Florence. David Stevens, Edinburgh Scotland.
We were very pleased with the Machiavelli Palace, on the one hand
the location was excellent in the middle of the historical centre
of Florence, everything there is to see and do in Florence is within
walking distance and on the other hand the reception staff was helpful
and polite. We did at least try to speak Italian and the reception
staff humoured us when they had time.... I cannot fault the guest
rooms at the Hotel Machiavelli as we stayed in 2 different rooms
(we booked a couple of nights then went on a 2 day tour of Tuscany,
organized by the concierge) and then back again to the Machiavelli.
For a three star hotel in Florence the Machiavelli guest rooms were
spacious and comfortable, our bed was firm and we both slept like
logs every night we were there. Breakfast was ok as I am not a big
fan of breakfast anyways. The reception staff was efficient with
their wake up calls and the excursion they organized in Tuscany
was one of the most memorable aspects of our trip to Italy. Finally,
for sightseeing the Hotel cannot be beaten and given the price which
was pretty average for a superior 3 star hotel we think overall
we got a bargain hotel in Firenze! Rosemary Wilkins, Birmingham

This is a great budget hotel in Florence! It's only steps away
from the train station and all the major points of interest are
on your doorstep. There is great night life and fantastic trattorias
a few streets away, check out Da Piero for the best Florentine Steak
30 euros can buy! If you want to go to a place with an awesome panoramic
view of Firenze check out Fiesole which has a fantastic viewing
point and a great pizzeria, while in Fiesole don’t forget
to check out the Etruscan theatre! Our room was great for the price,
we paid about 130 euro in July for a double room, they had an offer
on their website, so we think we got a real bargain as trying to
find a budget hotel in Florence isn’t easy especially in the
Summer when it seems that half the world comes to visit Italy. Anyhow,
we had a swell time and will definitely return back to Florence
in a couple of years. David McKie, Boston USA
