Questions & Answers

» What is the Check in time and Check Out time?
Check in time is at 2pm although in the low season i.e. Winter months and July/August it may be possible to check in earlier although this will depend on availability, therefore please write to us when making your reservation, using the comments box provided, if you intend to arrive early. Regarding the Check Out We ask all guests of the Machiavelli Hotel in Florence to check out before 11:30 a.m that way we can tidy your room in time for the next guests arriving.

» Is the price per room or do you charge per person?
The price is per guest room and includes buffet breakfast, service and taxes. There are no hidden costs or extra supplements.

» When do we pay for the Room, when we make the online reservation, upon arrival or upon departure?
No payment is taken when you make your online reservation, we only need your credit card as a guarantee for the reservation and in case you don’t cancel within the agreed deadline. Payment can be made either upon arrival but in most cases guests pay upon departure. All extras like mini-bar, telephone will also be settled upon departure.

» Do the reception staff and concierge speak English?
Yes all of the reception staff speaks English and all of them have appropriate qualifications from the Italian school of hospitality. In addition to English, French, Spanish and German are also spoken.

» How tall is the building i.e. how many levels and is there a lift?
The building which houses the Machiavelli Palace hotel is centuries old however, despite it’s antiquity we do have a lift which serves 6 floors including the ground one which is where the Machiavelli’s breakfast room may be found.

» Are the rooms sound proofed and quiet?
The walls of the hotel are extremely thick thus ensuring an undisturbed good night’s sleep in Florence. In addition all of the windows contain double glazing so as to block out the noise from the street below (Via Nazionale is one of Florence’s busiest streets)

» Does the hotel have non smoking guest rooms?
Yes non smoking rooms are available and will be provided upon request. Again, please make your request known using the comment’s box provided on the online reservation system (final screen)

» Do the hotel’s guest rooms contain carpets?
We don’t' have carpets in our rooms. All flooring is traditional terracotta tiles.

» What satellite channels does the Television have?
BBC and CNN plus 1 German Channel, 1 French Channel and 1 Spanish Channel

» Do the rooms contain a direct dial telephone?
Yes, all of the rooms contain a telephone with a direct line outside. You may make calls abroad by dialing 9 then the number. Payment will be made upon departure.

» Air Conditioning is provided in the guest rooms and public areas?
Yes, air conditioning is on throughout the hotel. There is no charge for this and the air conditioning may be controlled autonomously from your own room.

» Internet availability?
The Machiavelli Palace Hotel contains 1 internet point in the hotel lobby which may be used only by residents or guests of the hotel. Cards are available from reception. In addition you may surf the web from the comfort of your own room provided you have your own laptop.

» Is there a gym, health centre or swimming pool?
No, sorry we are only a three star hotel in the historical centre of Florence as such we simply don’t have the space for such facilities.

» Do you have a hotel garage at the Machiavelli Palace hotel in Florence?
No, the hotel does not have it’s own private garage however, parking is available (50 m from the hotel): extra charge of approximately 23 euro a day

» Where can we hire a car?
Ask our concierge who will be only too happy to help you organise car hire and excursions in and around Tuscany.

» Does Florence has 2 airports which one will we be arriving at?
Most people who are flying to Florence arrive at Pisa international airport (85km). The best way to get to Florence from here is by train or the Terravision shuttle bus. For those of you lucky enough to be arriving at Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport then we suggest you simply jump in a taxi and come straight to the hotel – it is only 5km away.

» Do you have a pickup or shuttle service from and to the airport?
No, regretfully at the time of writing we do not offer this service however, we will be adding this to the list of services offered in the future.

» Which is the nearest bus-stop?
20 metres number 4 or 12 from the main railway station (300 metres away)

» How far is the train station in Florence Santa Maria Novella?
300 metres from the hotel or 5-10 minutes walk away.

» Do you accept guests who are traveling with small pets?
Yes but only cat’s and medium to small size dogs… if you are bringing your pet you must advise us before hand so we can make the necessary arrangements.

» Does the Machiavelli Hotel have a restaurant?
No, but we are happy to suggest a number of restaurants and trattoria’s in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.
